When you get arrested in Florida you are issued a standard bond for your charges.
You can then either –
Post the Bond Cash, Save your receipt and once the case is closed get back about half after the Clerk takes out Court Costs.
Most people don’t have the Cash so they go through a Bail Bondsman.
Bondsman are Governed by The State of Florida to charge NO MORE than 10% of the bond.
Let’s Say Someone you know got arrested for a DUI, their standard Bail Bond in Broward County would be $1000.
A Bail Bondsman will charge you a “premium” of $100 and Something in Value of the $1000 dollars for “collateral”.
COLLATERAL IS ANYTHING IN VALUE OF THE AMOUNT OF THE BOND.
Collateral can be one or a combination of things.
Acceptable forms of Collateral Include:
~ GUNS
~ JEWLERY
~ SIGNATURE OF A HOME OWNER
~ Someone with a Good Job that Works for the City or the State
~ Someone with a Checking Account.
ONCE THE CASE IS CLOSED WHAT EVER YOU PUT UP FOR COLLATERAL YOU GET BACK.
